M.A.M.E. (Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator) is the most popular of all arcade emulators in existance.it was initially developed by Nicolia Salmoria and released on January 7, 1997 but now a lot of people are involved in M.a.m.e. project: this means a constant improving of the software, more and newer playable games and releases for other platforms, like UNIX and Machintosh. So there are a lot of versions of this emulator and a new version is released about twice a month. Note that many of them are beta versions: this means that they aren' t fully playable or have some bugs. Anyway, M.a.m.e. supports over 800 arcade games (!!!) even quite recent coin-op (I heard rumours about Mortal Kombat emulation but playable only with a Pentium2 450 Mhz!!!). On this website you can find just the latest official release of Mame because of a shortage of space.
Unpack the emulator files in your Mame directory; then put the ROM files in the subdir called: Roms. Be sure to leave the original name at the .zip file. Enter the DOS Prompt and type "pmame31 gamename" then press Enter. See the README files for more dectailed instructions.
Filename | Version | Size | Description |
Mame.zip | 0.31 | 936 KB | Unfortunatly my server doesn' t support files 1 meg larger so I cannot put the last MAME version on-line (0.33-1,2 MB).Anyway, this version is a good compromise: supports over 800 games, it' s quite fast (faster on pentium processor) and first of all it doesn' t crash your computer. Joystick/pad, mouse and sound support and...cheat docs included. |
